Schools
Tokoroa has a range of schools, seven primary and two full primary, state schools, a Catholic full primary scool, one intermediate school, and two high schools and a full immersion Maori Launguage School.
Zoning within the South Waikato District is dependent upon the school. Some schools, due to high rolls and demand, have their own zoning rules. Please contact the individual schools to make sure of their zoning policies.
All schools in Tokoroa are co-ed. The closest boarding schools are located in Rotorua and Cambridge. The two high schools are, Forest View High School and Tokoroa High School. These schools have over 500 students each. Both schools cater for Year 11 (Form 3) through to Year 13 (Form 7), but do take adult learners and also act as the venues for a number of night classes.

Home Schooling
Another option available in Tokoroa is to homeschool your children. We have a small homeschooling group that gets together on Friday afternoons and Wednesday mornings to offer support and social activities. Due to Tokoroa being so close to so many cities it is a simple matter for those with transport to visit the nearby cities for resources and/or educational trips. There are, of course, educational trips that can be made within the South waikato. For more information about homeschooling your child, please see the New Zealand Government web site if you are unfamiliar withNew Zealand conditions for home schooling. More information on home schooling can be found at www.home.school.nz
